The Fern Forest Treehouse in Northern Vermont
Having a treehouse is every kid’s dream, especially a sleepover-worthy one.
Harrison Reynolds, a former woodworking teacher, designed a getaway in the trees with his son, Will. After a summer's worth of construction, the resulting “Fern Forest Treehouse” in Lincoln, Vermont, is a cozy, livable hut wedged among four maple trees 30 feet above a carpet of ferns.
Derek “Deek” Diedricksen of Relaxshaks.com stayed in the tiny cabin for two nights with his family. He brought his camera to document his stay.
Harrison and his wife, author Louella “Ellie” Bryant, rent out the charming space from just $89US a night. The insulated treehouse has heat, electricity and a small refrigerator. A single bed sleeps one on the main floor, a queen-sized futon can be found in the ladder-access-only loft above.
Visitors have access to a private bathroom and shower in the main house — treehouses don’t typically have plumbing — via a 70-foot ramp. A guest room is also available in the main house if you’re not up for the overnight-in-the-trees adventure.
