Archipod: The prefab garden office you’ll want to live in
For those of us who work from home — and dream of escaping the dining room table workspace — the concept of a garden office is a welcome one.
Before dragging an old office chair to the garden shed, check out these prefab insulated spheres from Archipod. These eco-friendly, efficient and aesthetically pleasing little getaways are custom built and delivered to your door.

“The Pod” is approximately nine-feet, six inches in diameter, stands eight-feet, three-inches tall, and is constructed from timber, “the world’s most replenishable construction material.”
And if your backyard is only accessible through the house, the Archipod can still accommodate you. Each prefabricated section is small enough to be carried through the front door.

The official site claims the Garden Office Archipod’s unique curved shape and natural light from the hinged roof dome means it “looks bigger on the inside than on the outside.” Dimmable spotlights let you work into the night. An electric panel radiator efficiently keeps you warm during the Canadian winter.
A semicircular ergonomic — and customizable — desk is included. Custom storage and seating is also available. All you need to own your own “Pod” is an outdoor space, an electricity supply, a phone connection, and $34,000 (US). A larger pod, more than 12 feet in diameter is available for $5,000 more.
The only problem with your new home-away-from-home office? You’ll probably have visitors crashing your backyard. And your kids might think you’ve built them the coolest playhouse ever.
Expect distractions.
