Man spends months preparing dreamy horseback proposal

It's not every day you hear about a horseback-riding boyfriend poised with a ring and ready to propose to his girlfriend. And we bet it's ever rarer when lavish proposals like this happen on the boyfriend's birthday.

Jennifer Ann Molleda got the shock of her life when her boyfriend Alan Wakim rode up on horseback and serenaded her in front of onlookers before asking for her hand in marriage, reports the Houston Chronicle.

Wakim left his own birthday party at Zaza Hotel in Houston, Texas and then came back on top of a horse named Bubba, with red rose in hand, to propose in front of the hotel's balcony.

"I had no idea," says Molleda, after accepting the proposal from her boyfriend of one year. "I thought it was just going to be a thank you for helping celebrate his birthday."

Wakim trained the horse for several months with the help of a local equestrian centre, nervous that the proposal would go awry.

"You know, when somebody is that in love with someone, you have to help them out," says Southern Breeze Equestrian Center owner Cathy Stroble.

Wakim's inspiration?

"To show much she means to me, how special she is to me, how special she is not just to me but everybody," he tells the newspaper.

If you think his proposal was romantic, you should get a load of the man who recently proposed by creating a wall with thousands of Post-it notes that read, "Marry me?"
