Yes, You Can Have Grilled Cheese for Breakfast

Someone alert the 10-year-old you, because she’s going to want to hear this: Breakfast grilled cheese is real, and it’s fantastic.
The simple addition of marmalade, that citrusy preserve so beloved on breakfast tables, takes a grilled white cheddar or provolone sandwich comfortably into before-noon territory. It helps, too, that it’s served open-faced: Since it’s a bit messy, you’ll have to eat it at the careful, slow place befitting a leisurely morning meal. Or just fold it in half and shove it in your mouth in the car.
Let it be said: The brilliance of a cheese-and-preserve combo cannot be understated. It’s the perfect marriage of savory and sweet, and really, it’s perfect any time of day.
