T-Shirt That Promotes Suicide Angers Customers at TJ Maxx
Another day, another questionable product for sale! This week, it’s T.J. Maxx’s turn, after a customer found this lovely gem at one of its stores in Florida.

Yup, this is a T-shirt with a picture of a noose and the caption “Hang Loose,” made by a company out of Southern California called TAVIK. We’re forced to believe that this organization is made of entirely one person, because how else would this design ever see the light of day? Am I really supposed to believe that a designer came up with this design and then showed it to his boss who was like, “Awesome dude, good job!” They then produced a sample, again, without any red flags raised, and when it came for the buyers to do their thing, they didn’t have any objections either? Shockingly, the “Hang Loose” killer tee was not a hit item, so it ended up at the overflow emporium T.J. Maxx.
Do you see how this is so incredibly insane to believe?
The insinuation of suicide and, gulp, lynching is in such poor taste. There are so many things wrong with this T-shirt, and yet nobody thought of any of them until a teenage girl in Florida snapchatted it to her friend?
T.J. Maxx swiftly responded of course, and the brand that produced the T-shirt issued the standard non-apology apology. “We are deeply sorry to anyone who may have been offended. The shirt is being pulled from stores immediately,” tweeted TAVIK.
The more appropriate response would have been, “we are sorry that we did something so insanely screwed up because there are no human adults that work at this company!” Or something else that’s actually remorseful. But then again, they made the T-shirt to begin with, so we certainly cannot expect them to suddenly start acting like actual human beings. Come on people, let’s get it together.
