Beach homes conjure visions of serenity and relaxation: the lull of the waves, the exhaustion of a day spent in the sun, the promise of a lazy evening on the deck with an ocean view.

In the interest of pure escapism, we’ve assembled a collection of some of the most beautiful beach homes on some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, from the Caribbean to the Iberian peninsula to Southeast Asia. And while it’s not exactly tropical in the U.K., the British did set an historic beach resort precedent, so we’ve got one century-old home in a British seaside community.
