Ralph Lauren designs daughter’s wedding dress

Picking the right dress is the most important decision for a bride, but when your dad’s Ralph Lauren it’s a whole lot easier.

The fashion mogul, 71, designed his daughter’s wedding dress himself, and - as you’d expect – it’s something special.

Dylan Lauren, 37, tied the knot with hedge fund manager Paul Arrouet at the family’s Bedford Estate last month but these are the first pictures of the dress to be released to the public. She modelled the outfit in a photoshoot for the August issue of Vogue.

The stunning garment is made of handmade duchess satin, silk tulle and georgette and features an off-the-shoulder ruffle with tiny straps. It’s tight-fitting down to the thigh, then explodes into an embroidered train with ruffles.

The designer got help from close friend and bridalwear expert Vera Vang for the creation, and naturally his daughter is happy with the results. She told Vogue:  “I told my fiancé, ‘I may sleep in it. I might wear it the next day.’

“It's really beautiful. I know that every bit of his energy and heart went into making sure that I liked it.”

The gorgeous gown was kept under guard at Ralph Lauren's New York headquarters before the wedding.

The full feature appears in the August issue of Vogue, on newsstands nationwide this week, and on Vogue.com
