Best and worst foods to eat when you're sick

We all know that eating a balanced diet of fruits, vegetables and lean proteins is the key to warding off illness -- but sometimes life gets in the way.


Between tight work deadlines, caring for your family and trying to sneak in some fun time with friends, you don't always have time to dose up on immune-boosting foods – and you can find yourself battling a cold or flu.


But even though it may be too late to prevent yourself from getting sick, you shouldn't give up! By eating certain foods, you can help your body fight off the virus by boosting your white blood cell count, which acts as your natural defense against sickness.
