Nicki Minaj vs. Julie Bowen — Fashion Faceoff
The toughest decisions we usually have to make on Thanksgiving weekend are how many times to let ourselves fill our plate! This year, however, Nicki Minaj made sure that we also have a Fashion Faceoff ponder. The "Beauty and a Beat" singer donned the same strapless chartreuse Monique Lhuillier gown that we saw "Modern Family" actress Julie Bowen sport just two months ago. Time to think about fashion over food (just for a moment!) as we decide ... who wore it best?!
Minaj, 29, wore the design, from Lhuillier's Resort 2013 collection, on the red carpet at the 2012 American Music Awards in L.A. on Sunday, where she took home honors for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album and Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist. The so-called Harajuku Barbie amped up her demure look — this is Nicki Minaj we're talking about — with wild platinum blond tresses and her signature playful makeup, as well as a chunky necklace by Charles Albert.

Bowen, 42, rocked the feminine frock on a night that turned out to be big for her as well — the 2012 Emmy Awards, where she won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for the second year in a row. (Her super-competitive "Modern Family" character Claire Dunphy would be thrilled!) Bowen wore her dress with half-up, half-down tresses, Bochic earrings, and a gold Swarovski clutch.

These ladies have such different styles, that I'm shocked they would pick the same gown — as gorgeous as it might be! On Bowen, the bright hue of the dress offsets some of the look's sweetness, so while she might appear too princess-y in, say, pastel pink, here she's modern and sophisticated. Minaj, on the other hand, definitely ... made the garment part of her signature fun and outrageous style! Unfortunately, that's all I can compliment her on here, so Bowen wins this Fashion Faceoff for me. What do you think?
