Kate Middleton gets bangs, dresses like Princess Diana

Kate Middleton has a brand new look for the holiday party season: bangs! The Duchess of Cambridge showed off her latest haircut on Tuesday at the opening of the new Treasures gallery at London's Natural History Museum. While it has yet to be confirmed, we can take an educated guess that Middleton hit up her favorite hairdresser, Richard Ward, in London for the cut. Middleton typically goes to the salon for $75 blowouts three times a week, and regular haircuts for $242 each visit. This time Middleton swapped her traditional style for some face-framing layers and long, side-swept bangs.

On Wednesday, The Duchess and her husband, Prince William, attended a new hospital opening in Cambridge, and Middleton seemed less confident about her style. As the couple waved to the crowd from a windy balcony, Middleton's new hairstyle looked extra wind-blown, and the Daily Mail reports that she repeatedly brushed her newly layered hair away from her face. She confessed to one spectator that she was insecure about her new fringe. "I told her I loved her new hair style," onlooker Joanne Baldwin told the Daily Mail. "She said: 'I'm not sure about it. It's a bit windy today.' I said 'don't worry, it looks lovely.'"

Personally, we like Middleton's updated hairstyle, which also appears a bit more vibrant than usual. Richard Ward has said he dyes Middleton's hair with L'Oreal Symbio and Fuente Organic colour for around $376 a session. Perhaps she changed up the hue of her typical lowlights this time around.

Middleton's hair isn't the only thing getting attention this week. Her $2,200 festive green Mulberry dress is drawing comparisons to a similar style once worn by Princess Diana. The Duchess wore this dress publicly once before, a year ago at a reception at Buckingham Palace, but now with her feathered hair her overall appearance is reminding us even more of the late Princess of Wales. Both green silk dresses feature ruffled princess sleeves, collars, skinny matching belts, and long skirts. Middleton's new face-framing fringe completes the parallel looks.
