It’s A Hit!: Designs From NBC’s Fashion Star Sell Out

Celebrity clearly does sell: two of the winning looks from the March 13 premiere of reality show Fashion Star sold out in less than 12 hours. The winning designs--Orly Shani’s zippered skirt, sold at Saks Fifth Avenue, and Sarah Parrott’s cut-out mini-dress, sold at H&M—were both out of stock online before noon the next day.

The show aimed to break the mould of reality fashion competitions with a fresh twist: in addition to FLARE’s April cover star Nicole Richie, Jessica Simpson, and John Varvatos advising as mentors, real buyers from Macy’s, H&M and Saks Fifth Avenue purchase the best looks to sell at their retail outlets.

All of the purchased items are available in U.S. stores, but Canadians can get in on the action by going online and purchasing the winning items, which go on sale after each episode. Judging from last night’s speedy sales, it’s best not to wait.--Erin Fitzsimmons

Fashion Star airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. EST on CTV.
