Hacks For Getting Makeup (And Other) Stains Out Of Clothes

Ever painted your nails on your lap only to almost instantly spill polish on your jeans? So annoying. Worst yet, you’re putting makeup on in the car and suddenly there is foundation all over your shirt? We get it. When the makeup fun gets a little messy, you need a plan of attack. Here, our tips for getting beauty-product stains out of your wardrobe. Just because you’re a little clumsy doesn’t mean you should have to bid your favorite pieces adieu.


 

Get Those Stains Out

The Stain: Lipstick

The Solution: Hairspray

Spray directly onto the stain and let sit for 10-15 minutes before throwing it into the washer.

The Solution: Packing Tape

Let the spill dry completely and use a clear packing tape to lift polish right off the fabric.

Soak a cotton ball in hydrogen peroxide and gently rub the area in circular motions.

The Solution: Shaving Cream

Apply directly onto the stain and rub it in before throwing in the washer.

Blot with an alcohol-soaked rag until the stain comes out completely.
