Extend the life of your blowout with these expert tips!

There's almost nothing like catching a glimpse of yourself right after you've had your hair professionally done and seeing it in all its shiny, bouncy glory. Now if only there were a way for it to look that good all the time without having to spend countless hours and money waiting at the salon.

Turns out, there is. Maintaining your salon-quality hair after a strenous workout might be a bit of a challenge, but you can make it happen. We went straight to the experts to get their top tricks for lengthening the life of your professional blowout, and luckily for us, they delivered. So don't be afraid to dance, sweat, or cycle your way through the day! Here are all the tips you need:

1. Tie it up. Any time your hair gets wet, your blowout will start to "undo," so if you know you're going on a run after work or to a Spin class, plan to tie your hair up loosely with a soft scrunchy or hair tie for the duration of your workout, says Louise O' Connor, the owner of OC61 salon in Manhattan and brand spokesperson for black 15in1. "By tying your hair up in a loose bun, you're actually volumizing it, and this will help you add body to the roots of your hair, which is one element to maintaining your blowout," she adds. After your workout, O'Connor recommends spraying a hair treatment such as black 15in1 Miracle Hair Treatment around your hairline and through the lengths of your hair to prevent any frizzing or flyaways, as well as to add shine and bounce to your hair.

2. Work with your hair type. "Surprisingly, coarse and curly hair types have the easiest time maintaining a blowout!" O'Connor says. "For women with fine hair , the trick is to use as little product as possible. If you have coarser hair, the opposite is true: The more products you use, the merrier!" Look for products that moisturize but that aren't greasy; greasy products will only weigh down your hair. When applying them, the trick is to start sparingly-you can always add more as you go, but you can't take it out once it's in your hair.

3. Make an investment. Besides investing in a professional-grade hair dryer, you should spend the money to pick up salon-quality products and flat irons. "I also recommend that my clients with frizzy hair sleep on a 100 percent silk pillowcase," O'Connor says. "This reduces friction at the cuticle and helps minimize frizz. It may be an investment, but it has helped my frizzy-haired clients maintain blowout for days longer than before."

4. Dry it out. Water is public enemy No. 1 when it comes to your blowout. We won't recommend you skip showering just to maintain your hair, but using a shower cap will go a long way in helping you maintain that just-came-from-the-salon look.

5. Add some heat. "Part of the reason it is so challenging to recreate a salon-quality blowout is that the stylist is able to stand behind you and use both hands to direct the air flow directly down on the hair from behind, which will seal the cuticle," O'Connor says. "At home, you are forced to contort your arms and it is challenging to achieve even a similar amount of control. In order to fully close the hair cuticle at home, I recommend that clients quickly run a flat iron over the ends of their hair or use a curling iron. That extra touch of heat will help you to get a high-quality blowout at home."
