Fashion Face Off: Cara Delevingne, Jourdan Dunn, Sam Rollinson Compete for British Model of the Year Award

Cara Delevingne, Jourdan Dunn, and Sam Rollinson (Left to Right).

The 2014 British Fashion Award nominations were announced on Wednesday and it’s going to be a battle of the besties for the ‘Model of the Year’ category as Cara Delevingne, Sam Rollinson, and Jourdan Dunn are all in the running. The annual event, now in its 25th year, is taking place on December 1st at the London Coliseum. From countless fashion shows to campaigns for Burberry, Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel, and more, I don’t pity the judges that has to single out a winner from this trio of beauties. The nominee that will go home with the top prize will be, according to britishfashionawards.com, “a British model who has contributed most to the international fashion scene in the past year.” Since the three stunners have all proved they’re more than worthy of the award, it might just come down to aZoolander-style walk off. Here, Delevingne, Rollinson, and Dunn’s  individual accomplishments from the past year are broken down. Which model has your vote?

Cara Delevingne
Although Delevingne previously won this award in 2012, it would just be odd if she wasn’t nominated again. Her presence in the modeling world this year was just as bold as her brows. Not a day goes by without Delevingne’s name in a headline; her antics (gas masks and pizza suits) and fashion acumen (runways and numerous campaigns) mean that she’s definitely one to watch. She’s lent her steely good looks to campaigns for Mulberry (with whom she also created a bag), Burberry (alongside Kate Moss), Yves Saint Laurent, and Topshop. Her signature strut  has been worked on runways in nearly every continent over the past 365 days including Stella McCartney, Fendi, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford, Balenciaga, and more. At only 21 years old, she’s an international all-star for Vogue having landed the covers of the Chinese, British, and American editions. A mere two weeks ago, she tapped into the “business” of modeling by designing the #CaraD4DKNY capsule collection. If she doesn’t win, it could go down in fashion history as one of the biggest upsets since Hansel overthrew Zoolander for a similar title.

Jourdan Dunn
Dunn and Delevingne are the ultimate BFFs (they even havematching “double d” tattoos). This year alone, the two have walked for nearly every designer, both are the faces of Yves Saint Laurent Beauty, and are featured on the Forbes list of highest paid models. Dunn also appeared in campaigns for Topshop, Burberry, and DKNY, in addition to Calvin Klein and H&M. And, like sidekick Cara, Dunn won Model of the Year … in 2008. But she has her current spokesmodel position for Maybelline to add to her resumé. The 24-year-old mother of one has made historic strides, too. For one, she was the first black model since Naomi Campbell to walk for Prada. And in the March issue of Miss Vogue, Dunn confronted racism in the modeling industry when she spoke about being one of the few black models on the runways and confronted makeup artists who were reticent to work with darker skin models. It’s clear that Dunn can walk the walkand talk the talk. Win.

Sam Rollinson
Rollinson, who hails from northern England, made her runway debut by walking for Nicolas Ghesquière’s last collection for Balenciaga in 2013. This year, she appeared on catwalks for Moschino, Chanel, Hermés, and Burberry. The model — whose adorable bob is perfectly contrasted by those insane cheekbones — is the 2014 face of J Brand jeans, Joseph, and COS. On the editorial front, she has not one, but two Vogue covers. Rollinson might be the competition’s raven-haired underdog but don’t discount her chances. At just 18, she’s got a lot of fight in her.
