Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling Evoke Old Hollywood Glamour

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes are an extremely private couple which is why the paparazzi went crazy for them over the weekend as they attended legendary comic Don Rickles’ sold-out show in Beverly Hills. The pair were making their first known outing since the birth of their daughter Esmerlda on September 12. And what an outing it was! Instead of throwing on a plain Jane dress and flip flops, Mendes (who is a former Calvin Klein underwear model and a favorite of many designers) stepped out in a leopard print dress, black-and-white-print overcoat, a cool headdress, high platform heels, and a Chanel bag. Gosling, meanwhile, threw on a suit (sans tie which is so much cooler). What a gent.

It must be said that the duo’s laid-back style is emblematic of another era. You know, when date night was much more than just throwing on jeans and a T-shirt? Though their relationship was notoriously tumultuous, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton never looked less than impeccable when they stepped out for an evening. (The actresses also share an affinity for leopard print.) You can envision them hanging out at Ciros together back in the day.
