Don’t forget these people this holiday season

The holidays are filled with joy, merriment and warmth -- they’re also filled with lists of people to buy gifts for. Of course, there are the usual recipients to think of: your significant other, children, extended family and close friends. But there are more people on that list you may just be forgetting. Here’s are a few gift-giving ideas to keep you from being an unsuspecting Scrooge -- and they won’t cost you much.

Let’s start with the people who show up at your front door every day, rain or shine -- your letter carrier and paperboy or girl. These unsung heroes of home-delivery are often overlooked in the holiday rush. So, why not have a little something waiting for them to show them how much you appreciate them getting up early every morning and braving the elements so you don’t have to? Chances are your paperboy or girl is young, so a gift certificate for music or video will be a winning gift. Your letter carrier may like a warm pair of gloves or a gift card to a popular restaurant for a well-deserved evening out. Any of these ideas shouldn’t run you more than $25.

What about your beauty squad? They make your nails perfect, keep your hair bouncing and behaving and ensure your skin is rosy and blemish-free –- not to mention sharing all that hot gossip. Chances are they won’t need shampoo or lotion, so why not a loaded calling card they can use for their cell phone or a great coffee table book?

Other folks to consider are your babysitter (how about a cool carrying case for their smartphone?), and your landlord (maybe their favourite bottle of wine).

Putting a smile on these people’s faces is easy, inexpensive and will warm your heart -- not to mention theirs!
