Don’t Cover Up Your Freckles! 7 Great Makeup Tips

If you are lucky enough to have freckles, you probably know that the standard makeup rules don’t apply. Take foundation. Do you match the shade to your skin tone, to your freckles, or somewhere in between? And what do you do if you love makeup but don’t want to cover up your freckles with heavy makeup? The good news is your can keep that pretty, outdoorsy look that comes naturally, while letting a little makeup bring a sophisticated spin. Here are seven steps to pretty and polished makeup:

Step one: To brighten up the area underneath your eyes apply a small amount of liquid concealer with a brush, blending with your fingertips. Apply only where needed, the inner and very outer corner and any other areas where there is redness or discoloration. Dust translucent powder over the concealer to set in place.

Step two: A really sheer tinted moisturizer or BB Cream will even out any redness while letting your freckles shine through. You don’t want to cover them up with heavy foundation. Choose a color that is a little warmer and darker than your actual skin tone, and a little lighter than your freckles. You will need to test out different shades, to find the right match—so a makeup counter is your best bet.
