Your Perfect Bite: Yahoo! Canada users weigh in their favourite coffee

Since being posted this Monday, our most recent episode of The Perfect Bite has received more than 800 comments from Yahoo! Canada users all across the country. While some of you agreed with what host Andrea Jenna and renowned barista Sameer Mohamed thought was the best coffee, others weren’t so impressed with their choices.

We received lots of comments that said McDonald’s coffee isn’t as bad as our taste testers made it out to be. “McDonalds easily beats Tim Hortons. I used to love Tim's but now tastes chemically to me,” user Hilda writes. User Poyrkchop agrees, saying that “You can't beat McDonald's deal… unlike Tim's you actually get a fresh muffin for $1.39. I find Tim Hortons coffee has gone down hill and is very bitter!”

“My taste buds say definitely go with McDonald’s. The only time I drink Tim's is when they have their roll up the rim fiasco,” says John C from Saskatchewan.

“Unfortunately McD's is the only one that actually tastes like real coffee. Tim's is like water with a hint of coffee,” writes A Sands.

Some users commented that it’s hard to get the real taste of coffee when you’re used to drinking it with cream and sugar, like our host Andrea is. “If the coffee isn't black during the taste test then you’re not grading the coffee but the condiments,” user Steve writes.

Lots of you said you prefer to go to a chain that wasn’t mention in our taste test, go to a local coffee shop or even brew your own coffee at home.

“I drink mine black and Starbucks and Tim’s always gives me a tummy ache! Usually I prefer my own coffee at home just grind the beans (Costa Rica from Costco) put in my drip coffee maker and enjoy!,” writes Phoebe.

“The best coffee? The one you brew at home, yourself,” agrees Hughtrafalger.

“Make your coffee at home and save the money and put it toward something more important,” writes Quid.

And of course, a lot of you said that it all comes down to personal experience, what location you go to and who’s working.

“From my experience, a lot of this depends on the barista. A lot of them will leave coffee on the burner for too long, or put too much or too little in the machines,” writes Christinator.

“It is all a matter of personal preference and it may change over the years. I used to love Tim Hortons but because I stopped adding sugar and cream (they put so much and at 18 per cent), it started becoming too sweet,” adds a user going by the name S.

Great to know everyone enjoys the cup of coffee in different ways,” writes Ferdinand.

So, while our hosts loved the taste of Tim Horton’s and Second Cup, we know they don’t brew everyone’s favourite cup of joe. So whether you like a bold, dark blend or a light, highly-caffeinated brew,
