We want to know: Do parents deserve premium parking spots and other 'privileges'?

It turned out to be an April Fool's Day prank – but it certainly got people talking!

On Wednesday morning, Breakfast Television Edmonton posted an image to their Facebook page with the caption “Local woman is launching court case because parking lot favours parents with small children, saying "I'm a responsible global citizen who CHOSE not to have kids I'm being punished???" Is she in the right?

As of 3 p.m., the post had more than 300 shares and tons of comments.

As expected, many people weren’t impressed:

How selfish is this young foolish lady! I bet she thinks the handicap spots are unfair too? Wow, wonder if she ever tried to coral [sic] kids to a store,” wrote one commenter.

“This is so silly.! She is not being punished, it's merely a courtesy to help people with different needs"

"Has she ever toted a 25lb toddler across a huge parking lot like Walmart's at Christmas time with a 4 year old hold [sic] onto your other hand and bags being clenched with your fingers that you have left. She should try that out and then reevaluate her case," added another.

“LOL It's an April fools joke [sic] but the sad part is I have heard people complain before like this. Who cares about those preemies and newborns in the winter i guess...”

But there were some comments that saw the opposite side of things.

“She is 100% in the right. Parents do not need their own parking spots, it is ridiculous!" wrote one.

“Its getting a bit ridiculous. When my kids were little there was nothing like this. A lot of young parents think we all have to accommodate them. Get over yourselves,” said another commenter.

Added another: “It seems hilarious. I understand disabled people and even pregnant women with certain conditions but really? You can walk just like the rest of us with two legs. Catering to you because you procreated??

“I agree with her and find any special parking stupid and dumb, except for handicapped....no one deserves specialized parking, except for handicapped

A couple of hours later, Breakfast Television posted a follow up, saying the post was an April Fool’s joke courtesy of Edmonton radio station Sonic 102.9.
