These 'sexy' reminders might help prevent breast cancer

Have you checked your breasts lately? These topless men are trolling the internet — in a good way — to make sure you don’t forget.

Perhaps you’ve seen this man. He’s tan, topless and has an enviable six pack. He is one of 11 men (and women) sending out ‘sexy’ reminders to touch, look and check (T.L.C) your breasts as part of a campaign by Rethink Breast Cancer.

The tweets are to promote Your Man Reminder,  an app that was created to playfully educate women about breast health.  The inspiration came from a study that suggests women are more likely to watch a video if it features a 'hot guy' and that the same might be true if a reminder to perform a breast exam also came from an attractive source.

“There is no one right way to check your breasts,” the press release for the app states. “Rather than have women worry over technique or frequency, Rethink Breast Cancer wants to make breast health fun and engaging.”

Once downloaded the app helps users set up weekly, monthly and surprise reminders to do a T.L.C breast exam. Along with the reminders, the app offers tips on how to decrease breast cancer risks, signs and symptoms of breast cancer, scheduling assistance for getting a breast exam and the option to send ‘man-o-grams’ to friends reminding them to do a check, as well.

“[We] are excited to expand the reach of [Your Man Reminder] so we can help more young women stay on top of their breast health and report any changes or concerns to their doctor,” says MJ DeCoteau, Founder and Executive Director of Rethink Breast Cancer. The hope is that the more often women self-check, the more likely they are to notice if something is wrong.
