Readers choice’: Best and worst Oscars looks of all-time

With the 87th Academy Awards just hours away, it’s safe to say we’re getting pretty excited to see what all our favourite stars wear.

The Oscars is hands down the biggest night of awards season – especially when it comes to red carpet fashion. Over the years, we’ve seen Hollywood’s biggest stars show off outfits that will go down in history – some because they’re simply gorgeous, and some because they’re the complete opposite.

Last week we asked Yahoo Canada readers to vote for the best and worst Oscars red carpet looks of all-time.

And the award for best dress goes to…Halle Berry!

A whopping 36 per cent of voters thought that Halle Berry was the belle of the 2002 Oscars ball in her sheer embroidered dress by Elie Saab. The actress’s classy-yet-risque dress stood out amongst a sea of larger-than-life ballgowns, and helped put designer Elie Saab on the map.

The runner up for best dressed was Julia Roberts, whose 2001 Valentino gown won over 26 per cent of voters. Nicole Kidman’s red hot Balenciaga gown from the 2007 Academy Awards rounded out the top three with 10 per cent of votes.

When it comes to the worst looks of all time, we weren’t surprised by the voters’ choice.

The swan dress that Icelandic singer Bjork wore to the 2001 Oscars is one of the most talked about red carpet looks ever. Twenty four per cent of voters thought it deserves to be called the worst of all-time.

Lizzy Gardiner’s 1995 American Express dress came in second with 21 per cent of votes, and sixteen per cent of voters thought Gwyneth Paltrow’s rare fashion blunder at the 2002 Oscars was the worst ever.

Do you agree with these results? Who do you think deserves the title of best and worst Oscars looks of all time?
