When Jodi Gholson Oliver was recently told by her 19-year-old teen Jes Oliver that he was going to live his life as a male, despite being born a female, she respond in the best possible way.

The Las Vegas, Nevada hairstylist posted an insightful, witty and caring Facebook post last week that announces Jes as transgender and offers to answer any questions people may have.

Yep, it's true! I am proud to announce that I have given birth to a bouncing baby boy on December 18, 1994. For about 18 1/2 years we thought he was a girl, who just happened to like bugs, tattoos, flames, skulls, snakes, lizards, etc, etc. Then one day Jes explained to us that he never felt like he was supposed to be a girl, always identified more as boy and therefore planned on living as a male (a term called transgender in case you are not sure). This is something that we have all seen over the years and I am so happy that he can finally feel like the person he was born to be!

If you have any questions please feel free to ask me, as I will do my best to help you understand a concept that may be unfamiliar to you! If you think your question may be inappropriate, it probably is and I will probably not answer it!

Jodi's inspiring words were later re-posted to Tumblr by Jes, who introduced the post writing, "Heck ya, mom."

So far, the combined social media accounts have seen the mother's loving words quickly gain traction with over 150,000 Tumblr notes and over 135 Facebook likes.

Jodi is surprised by the overwhelming online response and has since joined the Gender Justice Nevada group.

"I thought when I made this announcement on FB I was just letting all of my friends and family know about recent developments in our lives and that telling everyone at the same time would just be so much easier," she writes in a follow-up post. "I had no idea this was going to affect so many people like it has. My hope is that in a short time this topic can just be small talk over coffee."

Jodi's response is touching, and she's one of many awesome parents who have shown support to their LGBT children.

Last fall, a mother wrote an endearing letter to her gay son after he came out in a Facebook status update. She posted the letter to her Facebook page, resulting in a public outpouring of praise for her unconditional love.

And early last year, a father wrote a super-sweet letter to his gay son, saving him the trouble of coming out by letting him know that mom and dad had already known the score for awhile.
