Man proposes to boyfriend in flash mob dance at Home Depot

When Dustin arrived at a Salt Lake City Home Depot store, he thought he was going to help pick out lighting for a roommate's party. Instead, he received the shock of his life as a highly choreographed flash mob marriage propose unfolded before his eyes.

A video posted to YouTube by his boyfriend Spencer shows a crew of at least 20 dancers (most of which we assume are his friends) and countless family members rocking out to the tune "Somebody Loves You" by Betty Who.

And the timing couldn't be better.

The American Family Association, which had previously boycotted Home Depot for their financial contributions to gay activist groups and events, announced an end to their boycott just last week. But not because they had a change of hearts on gay rights, but because they believed Home Depot stopped supporting the organizations in question. If only they could see Dustin and Spencer in action now.

The energy during the flash mob proposal is palatable, starting off fun and light as dancers who sport colourful tops and beaming smiles strut their funky moves. The mood slowly edges more serious as family appear into view. Elderly folks, middle age parents, and kids doing chartwheels represent a strong contingent of gay-positive family members. Surely Dustin and Spencer are counting their blessings.

The proposal ends as Spencer, looking pretty dapper in a well-tailored grey suit, emerges and says, "I love you more than anything in the entire world and I'd be honoured if you'd be by my side for the rest of my life."

He then gets down on one knee saying, "Will you marry me?'

Dustin nods his head vigorously up and down, as both men embrace in tears, hugging tightly for what seems like an eternity.

It was only this past May when another gay flash mob marriage proposal happened in Central Park, New York City. A video shows Carl, who later proposes, putting his arm around Drew as they sit and watch a crew of dancers move to "A Thousand Years" by Christina Perri.
