World’s most expensive moisturizing cream will set you back $13,000

If you're someone who likes to try the latest and greatest in skincare, start saving your pennies — and fifties. And then sell your car.

This September, Cle de Peau Beaute will release a special edition of its famous moisturizer, La Crème, for a record-breaking cost of $13,000. The non-special-edition moisturizer sells for around $600.

Actress and singer Amanda Seyfried is the face of the brand:

This new moisturizing cream celebrates Clé de Peau Beauté's 30th anniversary.

"We do not usually make limited editions of our products, but this is to mark a special occasion for the Clé de Peau Beauté line," says spokesman Megumi Kinukawa. "We hope it will appeal to our loyal customers and people who are interested in gorgeous brands."

Only three 50-gram jars of the age-defying cream will be sold. If more than three buyers show interest, the company will hold a draw.

The yet-to-be-unveiled product owes its jacked-up price to its packaging.

"Each container is hand-crafted and made up of 30 layers of crystals and three platinum rungs," the Japanese cosmetics company tells the Telegraph.

Per gram, the high-performance premium moisturizer is five times more expensive than gold, and is believed to be the most expensive beauty cream on the planet.
