Kate Middleton’s maternity dress sells out after family portrait release

Well, Kate Middleton style lovers, we’ve got good news – and we’ve got bad news.

Love the gorgeous dress Kate Middleton wore in the recently-released royal family portraits? We do too. The good news? It’s available to buy, and it’s relatively inexpensive (phew, it made us sad to lust over that gorgeous-but-unattainable Jenny Packham frock). The bad news? You’re going to have to wait a month.

The maternity dress Kate Middleton wore in the new royal family photos sold out within hours of the portrait release – and it’s backordered until Sept. 16.

The fuschia knot-front dress by British brand Séraphine retails for £49 (about CDN $79).

“"We heard rumors online that an official royal family photo was going to be released imminently, so we were on the look out to see what her next outfit would be and hoped it would be Seraphine," company founder Cecile Reinaud tells ABC. "We saw the picture go live online overnight and are absolutely honored and so happy to see her in another one of our dresses!"

This isn’t the first time the Duchess has worn a maternity dress from the British brand. According to Seraphine’s website, Kate was spotted wearing the Blossom Knot Front Lavender Maternity Dress while taking Prince George to visit the Middletons.

But, like the fuschia version, this dress has a wait list that spans into September.

She was also seen shopping in a Séraphine polka dot dress while she was still pregnant.

According to Reinaud, images of Kate wearing Séraphine dresses have led to a spike in sales of over 100 per cent in July.

This is far from the first time an item has sold out after being used by the Duchess – and it’s not just clothing. The first public appearance of Prince George swaddled in a aden + anais blanket caused the company’s website to crash.
