Shine OnJohn Galliano wears Hasidic-looking outfit to Oscar de la Renta show
The scandal-plagued designer is back on the front pages because of a fashion “comeback” gone wrong.
The former Christian Dior head designer, who has been working with Oscar de la Renta on his Autumn/Winter 2013 collection, was spotted wearing a controversial outfit on the way to de la Renta’s show in New York yesterday.

The New York Post caught Galliano wearing a black hat, a dark jacket and curly side-locks (or peyos), in the style of a traditional Hasidic Jew. The designer was fired from Dior in 2011 after being caught on camera saying anti-Semitic comments to a couple in a Paris bar and professing, “I love Hitler!” He was found guilty in France of making anti-Semitic remarks and was sentenced to pay $8,400 US.
“If it was just anyone else, I wouldn’t know what to say,” Brooklyn Assemblyman Dov Hikind told the Post. “But considering who the guy is, considering his background and what he’s said in the past, let him explain it to all of us: Are you mocking us?”

Galliano’s rep Liz Rosenberg told the paper that the former designer wasn’t mocking anyone. “Your accusations are not at all correct,” she said.
It’s taken a while for the fashion community to warm up to Galliano since he was forced out of the spotlight. The designer spent time in a rehabilitation facility, was spotted dining with Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and designed Kate Moss’ wedding dress.
Designer Oscar de la Renta surprised style-watchers when he announced that Galliano would work with him on his Fall collection. De la Renta said, "I think John is one of the most talented men I've ever met," he told New York magazine. "I like him very much. I also believe that everyone should have a second chance, especially someone as talented as John. And he has worked so hard on his recovery.'
