(TWELV's Facebook page)For TWELV magazine's debut issue, editor-in-chief Hissa Igarashi and fashion editor Sayuri Murakami created a show-stopper of a dress to grace its pages. Paying homage to Alexander McQueen's 2008 spring/summer collection, the colourful couture gown is made entirely out of gummy bears — 50,000 of them.

It weighs approximately 220 pounds — this 100-pound gown seems featherweight by comparison — and requires the strength of three adults to move.

We assume it requires air-conditioning, too, as this summer's merciless heat would likely melt the dress into one sticky mess.

The dress took three weeks to build, with each gummy bear individually hand-glued onto a steel-wire-framed, vinyl-covered under-layer shaped to fit model Jessica Pitti's measurements exactly.

"The result? An incredible nod to a fashion genius that was literally good enough to eat!" the TWELV editors boast.

If gummy bears are too juvenile — or sugary — for your tastes, you'll be happy to know Australian researchers have made it possible to wear a dress made of wine.
