The easiest way (ever!) to cook corn on the cob

Arguably one of the most exciting parts of summer, fresh corn is slowly making its way into supermarkets thanks to our neighbours to the south.

And while Canadian ears may still be a little ways away, this video (or some version of it) has been popping up on Facebook news feeds recently as people slowly begin savouring this iconic summertime food.

In just a few simple steps you can have the perfect corn on the cob every time, with little mess and no hassle. And, you won't have to spend ages peeling off those pesky hair-like strands of silk. Here's the jist:

1) Trim the ends of your corn so it will fit in your microwave, if necessary.

2) Cook corn in the microwave for about 4 minutes per cob on high power. The corn steams inside the husk.

3) Remove corn (careful, it will be extremely hot!) and cut off the large end, a few rows of kernels above the stem. You can always cut the end off before you pop the corn into the microwave, as the chef in this America's Test Kitchen video does.

4) Grab corn from top and shake or slide the cob out. Toss away the husk and silks and get ready to dig in!
