Drew Barrymore to launch makeup line for Wal-Mart: report

From Hollywood royalty to cosmetics maven?

When Drew Barrymore's Procter & Gamble contract expires this January, the actor/producer/new mom and long-time CoverGirl spokesperson will reportedly announce her own line of made-from-scratch cosmetics exclusively for Wal-Mart.

"Sources say she has been collaborating with the Italian-based Intercos, the leading supplier of color cosmetics, makeup and skin care. Not only is this the actress' first foray into beauty marketing, but industry sources speculate that the project will be the first full makeup brand developed from scratch exclusively for Wal-Mart," Women's Wear Daily reports.

A source tells US Weekly that Barrymore, 38, is already developing the products overseas.

"In the meantime, the star is hard at work developing the products with Maesa Group, a beauty manufacturer based in France," the magazine reports, quoting a source who calls Barrymore's involvement very "hands-on in the whole process."

Barrymore's makeup will be her first venture "into the world of celeb beauty marketing," Fashionista reports, pointing out that the mega star doesn't even have her own fragrance, something most pretty faces in Tinseltown promote.

The Golden Globe winner does, however, does have her own award-winning wine.

"I want to do it all," she tells Haute Living in August. "I love film, but I also love wine, food, and traveling. I would love to be a travel writer. I'd be so stoked."

"I think it's nice to do what you really love in life, occupationally and recreationally," she adds. "Right now, I'm getting to do the things I love and I'm so, so happy about it."

And while wine might seem an odd business venture for a recovering alcoholic — the NY Post reminds us of her rehab stint in adolescence — some find the makeup line just as surprising.

"What we do find slightly surprising is the fact that Barrymore, whom we associate with a care-free, hippie-chic style, is partnering with the retail giant to sell her beauty wares," E! Online's Rose Curiel writes.
