Daughters hold triple wedding day before mom dies

Yesterday, we shared the story of a terminally ill Ohio man who was determined to "walk" his daughter down the aisle.

Today, a dying Georgia mom's similar wish — to see her daughters get married — is making headlines.

Warning: it's a real tearjerker.

Becky Swales's dream was to see her three daughters get married.

Jodie, Sarah and Kaylee, were all engaged when Becky, who had been battling breast cancer for four years, learned that she had just months to live.

Her daughters decided to plan a triple wedding for later this month. But when they learned that their mom had even less time than they thought, they moved up the wedding date to this past Sunday.

"It's awesome having her here, but it's hard having her suffer while she's here," Kaylie told MyFoxAtlanta before the ceremony.

Becky watched the triple ceremony from the front row.

Dad Otis Swales walked all three of his daughters down the aisle.

"It's hard, but I'm proud of my daughters," Otis says. "I just pray God gives me strength to get through every day."

The wedding was held just in time. Swales passed away early Monday morning, the day after her dream came true.

"My mommy Becky Nickerson Swales went to be with the Lord this morning. She was the most beautiful person I knew, and I bet she is the most beautiful angel," daughter Jodie wrote on Facebook.

"My mom was strong and fought the fight for a long time and I know she's watching me and my family and I'm gonna give her a life that she'd be proud to watch. Thank you God for letting her be here for the wedding yesterday. I love you bigga bunches mommy."

When the family's story made headlines earlier this month, donations poured in to help give the three sisters a dream wedding.

Their reception, to be held at a donated venue, will still take place on the originally scheduled date: Oct. 26. It will celebrate the new marriages and honour Swales's memory.
