Clever bacon commercial parodies diamond commercials

Oscar Mayer has released a clever spoof commercial that mocks the supreme cheesiness of diamond commercials.

As a young couple rides a horse-drawn carriage, the woman hands the man a small black velvet box. And when he opens the lid to find two strips of bacon, a narrator says, "When words just aren't enough, say it with bacon."

With terms like cut, symmetry, cure and consistency no one would ever think this commercial is about bacon.

"When it's time for the ultimate expression of love, say it on a plate, give a gift from the Oscar Mayer original collection," continues the narrator. "Fall in love with the Original Strip."

If you think the bacon commercial's degree of cheese is stretched too far, check out the below 2012 Kay Jewelers commercial showing the alternate reality of diamond commercials. You've been fair warned.

Okay, so maybe not all diamond commercials are dripping with cheese. Some are just supremely sweet in a way that doesn't make you want to cringe, but rather pine with envy.
