Chestnut Praline latte the new holiday drink offering from Starbucks – and it’s amazing!

The new Chestnut Praline Latte from Starbucks.

Move over Pumpkin Spice – there’s a new seasonal latte in town.

Coffee giant Starbucks recently announced that it would be offering up its “first new holiday handcrafted beverage in five years” – the Chestnut Praline Latte. The espresso-based beverage features chestnut praline syrup and steamed milk, all topped with a glorious swirl of whipped cream and crunchy praline crumbles.

First tested in select markets in the United States last year, the drink earned positive enough reviews that the chain is bringing it to market on a bigger scale – and with good reason.

We had the opportunity to taste test the beverage during a holiday preview, and it is amazing. It’s the only Starbucks beverage we’ve been thinking about since we had our first sip many months ago. It’s sweet, but not overly so – and the chestnut flavour gives it a little je ne sais quoi since it’s not something most of us are accustomed to tasting. The crunchy praline crumbles on top are the perfect finish.

The new beverage will be available in Canadian stores beginning Nov. 3, 2014 starting at $3.95 for a limited time. It joins returning seasonal beverages Gingerbread latte and Peppermint mocha. We suggest you run, don’t walk, to try this one out.
