Burger King-Tim Hortons combos we want to see
There's a lot of buzz about Burger King's purchase of our beloved Tim Hortons.
We'll leave the talk of tax breaks and fast-food identity issues to the news team — read all about the deal here, here and here — we're just preoccupied with the mouth-watering potential of a Doughnut Whopper.
While the two chains aren't likely to combine menus — according to reports, no changes are currently expected to either brand, although Bloomberg proposes that Burger King recruit some breakfast-menu help from the Canadian coffee-shop chain — we can dream, right?
Things we'd love to see on a Burger King/Tim Hortons menu:
Doughnut Whoppers. Move over, Krispy Kreme burger. We'd like to see a flame-broiled patty between two sour-cream glazed donuts. (Also: bagel burgers.)
Chili fries. Finally. Use Timmy's classic chilli to top your order of fries.
French Toast flavoured Timbits.
The ultimate breakfast sandwich: A Timmy's biscuit, egg, cheese — and a Whopper patty. (Vegetarians, you might finally be able to get a veggie patty for breakfast.)
Biscuits (from Timmy's) and gravy (from Burger King).
A TENDERGRILL Chicken Panini.
Coffee milkshakes! With a hazelnut or vanilla flavour boost.
We're also assuming that Burger King's muffins, and Croissan'wiches would get a Timmy's-worthy makeover, and that their new Canadian-ness would inspire a more authentic poutine order.
Of course, at our dreamed-up mashed-up franchise, combos would be a real highlight:
An Iced Capp with a side of French Toast Sticks for dipping.
Soup with Chicken Tenders or Onion Rings.
Chili and Mozzarella Sticks.
A Whopper Jr. and Timbits.
A Tuscan Chicken Panini with a side salad.
Pancakes and a Double-Double. A Jalapeño Cheeseburger with a Double-Double. Actually, anything with a Double-Double. (And a doughnut.)
If Burger King and Tim Hortons join menus when they join forces, what will you be ordering?
