Logan, 11, is about to lose his "only child" status.

Josh and Michelle Fairbanks, both 29, had Logan a month after their high-school graduation. They weren't sure if they'd be able to have another child.

So when they discovered Michelle was pregnant again, they decided to share the exciting news with Logan, who Josh describes as the "big-hearted, big-brother type," in a memorable way.

"He is very much a big brother role to other small kids in our small town. It would not have broken his heart if he wasn't an older brother but it was something he really wanted," Josh, a photographer, tells the New York Daily News.

After school on Tuesday, Josh and Michelle had Logan read a list of fun upcoming plans on camera.

"Logan did not know what was on the paper when he started reading it to the camera. We cut in as he is listing off some of the things he will be doing this year," Josh writes on Vimeo.

"There is one more thing I am going to do this year," Logan reads aloud. "I am going to be a big brother."

Shock, confusion and tears of joy follow.

Josh tells the New York Daily News that when Logan walked off camera, he went straight to his mother. He held her for about 90 seconds and started sobbing.

"I thought it would sink in a little quicker," Josh tells TODAY.com. "I thought he'd be ecstatic right away. But I think he was in the same mindset that it was probably not gonna happen, that he would be an only child. When he read that it took quite a little bit to sink in."
