3 Beauty Tips for Surviving Holiday Season Hangovers

Madaline Donnelly, Allure magazine

I really love December. If all the months had a holiday get-together, December would easily be the life of the party. She'd be laughing it up while gifting July with a new bikini, spreading her cheer to sad, grey January, and probably chugging eggnog with November. And yes, the day after, December would be hungover. 1. Hydrate!
Your biggest ally is water-and lots of it. Supplement the coffee you're downing first thing in the morning with H20. Or, even better, according to dermatologist Dr. Ranella Hirsch, "Drink Gatorade. It has all the nutrients that you'll want. Similarly, consider a thermal spray mist, which is essentially a Gatorade for your skin." (Here are some great options.) Lastly, use gentle, natural moisturizers to soothe skin, which is extra sensitive when you're hungover.

2. Use an Eye Cream
When you're hungover, your eyes usually take it for the team. Use a cream or gel that will get your circulation flowing again and soothe the thin skin around your eyes. A great option is the Garnier Skin Renew Anti-Puff Eye Roller, which is infused with caffeine to help de-puff.

3. Try a Mineral-Based Foundation
No matter how much water you drink and cream you use, you'll probably still look a bit swollen and blotchy. Go easy on recovering skin by sticking to products that won't enhance irritation. Allure recommends Bare Minerals Ready Foundation and Bare Escentuals BareMinerals Original SPF 15 Foundation. If your under-eye circles are really problematic, try Maybelline Cover Stick Concealer, which also works well with sensitive skin.
