Single Women Vs. Married Women

Pop culture belief seems to be that your sex life is over when you get married, but I'm sure plenty of you married women out there would disagree. A new survey indicates that women in relationships actually initiate sex more than their single counterparts.

In a new study commissioned by Penguin, women feel more confident in instigating sex once they've settled into a relationship, but single gals are more adventurous in bed once they've made it there.

A few tidbits of comparison:

  • How are single girls more adventurous? They watch porn, act out fantasies and use toys. (Hey couples, you can use toys too--did you see this one Ariane suggested yesterday?)

  • Single ladies are more into having sex outdoors, in the garden, or in the car.

  • Evidently, almost half of single women have sex at least once a week and 1/10 will use five different positions in each session. This single girls says: Wait, really?? I am not in the cool single girl crowd.

  • Married people, on the other hand, are more of a get down to business kind of folk: they only spend 10 minutes on foreplay (singles aren't really that different, spending a whopping two minutes more).

  • Married gals tend stick to the missionary position and rarely use more than one position during sex. Need to change that? Try these!

Author Sylvia Day (her steamy-sounded new book, Bared To You, was the inspiration for the survey) says that women in relationships are more likely to initiate sex because they've grown more confident and comfortable with their partner, which I think makes a lot of sense. But I would have thought the same theory would apply when it came to being adventurous in bed. Single ladies, you've surprised me with your brazen confidence!

Do you initiate sex more the longer you've been with someone? When are you more likely to be adventurous in bed?
