Between my action-heavy role in The Avengers, my beer-drinking "dude" of a character on How I Met Your Mother, and my tomboy background, you could say I'm definitely one of the boys. Now in my old age (yes-I just turned 30), I have more female friends than male friends, but they're all like me. We're girl bros. Here's what I've learned from my years as a guys' girl, both in real life and in character.

DON'T try too hard to be "what men want"
I have so many single girlfriends who fit themselves into the mold of what they think a guy's looking for. But being comfortable around men is about being comfortable with yourself. They gravitate toward confidence. Really, that is what they want to be around.
But DO take a cue from guys' laid-back attitude
One night, my guy friends and I had a mountainous bowl of chicken wings. We were all diving in, and then they were like, "God, Cobie! You're wasting all the chicken! You have to go back and finish it!" So I went back and gnawed off every tendon. I love that no-nonsense, down-to-earth mentality.

DO know what you'll get (and what you won't)
I always talk about my period with guys; they love it. Kidding! Girl stuff, from that to the deeper conversations about where we are in life, just doesn't translate to men. But I like being around guys because it's relaxed. Sometimes you just want to talk about movies, you know?
