Celebrity Couples Who Have Too Many Pets

By Bernadette McCadden for CupidsPulse.com

Having a pet can be extremely beneficial in creating and maintaining a healthy relationship. A study of 240 couples by the University at Buffalo found that those who own cats or dogs "have closer relationships, are more satisfied in marriage, and respond better to stress than couples who do not." But as with anything in life, there can be too much of a good thing. While many couples do thrive when raising a pet together, some couples can overwhelm themselves with the responsibility.

If you and your man are in a new relationship, having a pet can give you fun things to do together. If you have a dog, take the pup out for late night walks together or make a picnic and enjoy a day in the park! If you are already in a serious relationship and are thinking about starting a family, getting a puppy can be a great next step. It introduces you to the idea of focusing your time and energy on helping something other than yourself grow.

Miley Cyrus and recent fiancé Liam Hemsworth know all about this! The couple is known for their love of dogs and has adopted five in total so far. They first took in Lila, a Yorkshire Terrier that Cyrus loves dressing up in the latest fashion trends. The next dog to join the crew was Floyd, an Alaskan Klee Kai who is often seen running the streets with Cyrus. For her fiancé's 22nd birthday, Cyrus knew exactly what to get Hemsworth- an adorable English bull dog puppy they named Ziggy! After taking in Ziggy, the pop star wasn't looking to adopt again just yet, but just couldn't resist when she saw a tiny Rottweiler/Beagle mix abandoned outside of a Wal-Mart. Only two weeks later, the couple took in their most recent addition to the family, a puppy named Mary Jane.

Both Hemsworth and Cyrus are extremely busy and successful, so do they really have enough time to devote to each animal, their careers, relationship and themselves? There comes a point when having too many pets can actually hinder you relationship because you can't devote enough time to each animal, yourself and your beau. If you and your man are thinking of getting a pet, great! But start slow. There's no need to take in a bunch all at once, but if you do, make sure you have enough time and energy to devote to each pet as well as your man!
