On-Again, Off-Again: Celebrity Couples Who Can’t Make a Commitment

In Hollywood you never know who's going to step out as the next big couple, especially when the new duo can be broken up before the official word even gets out. To be fair, it has to be difficult to maintain a relationship that is constantly in the public eye - but hey, don't they get paid for that? Aside from frequent budding romances, we're constantly hearing about those couples who just can't commit. They're on one week, and off the next week and then before you know it they've eloped ... only to divorce weeks later.
These crazy pairs constantly keep us guessing while never failing to surprise us with yet another breakup or make-up. Sometimes we enjoy staying on the relationship's roller coaster ride, but we have to wonder why these stars are so incapable of staying together:
Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick
This duo may look flawless together, but even with the two beautiful babies to show for their relationship, this picture-perfect couple has had a pretty traumatic run. Together for nearly six years, the stars' romance, or lack thereof, has been on display for the world to judge and criticize. Whether we're hearing about Scott's infidelities or that Kourtney is refusing to let him sleep in the same bed as her, it seems like they will never be strong enough to take that trip down the aisle. Whether they continue to make it work or go their separate ways, they're both the parents to their young son Mason and daughter Penelope, so let's hope they choose to act like adults and compromise instead of having a classic Kardashian blowout.

Sammi Giancola and Ronnie Ortiz-Magro
Whether this couple's out of control relationship was purely for entertainment purposes or not, on the MTV reality show, Jersey Shore, everyone can't help but love to hate Ronnie and Sammi. The guido and guidette got together on the first season of the show and, ever since, we've seen the twosome through the crying, name calling and all out physical brawls. It's actually a rarity when they're filmed not fighting. That said, there are those times they honestly look happy together ... when they're sleeping of course! Between Ronnie's fohawk and Sammi's Jersey-girl attitude, they couldn't be more perfect for one another but that doesn't stop them from raging with jealousy when they see one another even glimpse at someone from the opposite sex. Trust is definitely a factor keeping them from committing, but it has to be hard when their jobs are to be drunk and party at clubs. On a separate note, let's give them some credit because since the filming of the sixth season ended, Ron and Sam are officially back together.

Crystal Harris and Hugh Hefner
Hugh Hefner has a couple girls in his life, but the 86-year-old seems to be smitten on his ex-fiance, Crystal Harris. Even though the blonde bombshell called off their wedding in June, 2011 the duo is back together, for now, and seem to be as happy as ever. There's a slight age difference between Playboy's editor and the 26-year-old model, but they are both very affectionate towards one another. During their split Crystal was said to be miserable, but that didn't stop her from smack talking Hef. Although she said some cruel things, her former fiance couldn't hold it against her and allowed the Playboy model to move back into the mansion. Now officially a couple again, the two are taking their relationship a little bit slower this time around and are holding off on any marriage plans. As Crystal Harris tweeted upon their reunion, "Yes @hughhefner and I are back together. Yes I am his #1 girl again. Yes we are happy. Hope that clears up any confusion! Xo."

If you were as busy as Lady Gaga, you'd probably find it challenging to keep a boyfriend, too. But, as her touring has slowed, it seems like she and actor Taylor Kinney are back on, again! The 'Born this Way' singer has been with the 31-year-old for almost a year now, although the two aren't looking to get married anytime soon. The pair have been seen on romantic skinny dips and dining at Gaga's father's restaurant, but don't be fooled by their seemingly effortless relationship because it's definitely a tough one to maintain. Although they don't feel obligated to commit just yet, they both obviously adore one another and things seem to be going pretty smoothly for them.
Whether these celebrities don't realize what they have in front of them or they're waiting to see what else is out there, anyone can relate to needing a push in the right direction once in awhile. It may be time to quit the games and find a more compatible mate or accept that you're in love with the person you're with - either way, it's not beneficial for anyone to be in an on-again, off-again relationship.
