Talk It Out
Yeah, it's probably the last thing you want to do, but talking to your ex about how you can work side-by-side shows that you're mature and professional. If it was a horrible breakup, you might also want to talk about whether you can switch projects so you can avoid each other for a while. Having a plan takes some of the awkwardness out of it (instead of just ignoring the elephant in the room).

Keep a Lid on It
If your coworkers didn't know that you and your ex were dating, they def don't need to know that you split. And if they knew about it, keep the news of your split simple. Just say, "We broke up" and leave it at that. Giving details can just create drama.

Don't Call in Sick
Tempting? Totally. But you're going to face your ex sooner or later, and really-you're just going to spend that day off obsessing about what you'll say to him the next day at work anyway. Going in to work the day or weekend after a split shows that you're not thrown off your game.

Don't Argue During Office Hours
...And that includes emails and texts, too. Even if he says something completely obnoxious to you in passing, rise above it. Engaging with him will only lead to drama, and that will make you look unprofessional. You can deal after work is over-plus, you'll have more time to think on how awesome your response will be.

Stay Calm
Finding your inner Buddha will help you chill out and will make it look like you have it all together (even if you're a total mess inside). If you feel like you might lose it, breathe in for a count of five and out for a count of five. Keep doing this until you feel relaxed-and you will.

Step Out for a Sec
Feeling totally overwhelmed? Hey, it happens. Casually saunter to the bathroom where you can get yourself together without an audience.

Pamper Yourself
Breakups are a bee-yotch, so give yourself a break. Treat yourself to a mani-pedi, buy those shoes you've been eyeballing, or take a new class at the gym that you've been mulling over. It might take some time, but eventually you'll just think of your ex as that guy you work with-not the one you used to date.
