50 Percent of Couples Share Passwords

Imagine this scenario: You break up with your (seemingly) normal boyfriend. Everything seems cool, but then his inner crazy comes out: He hacks into your Facebook account, steals personal photos, and generally makes your life hell.

And yes, it can happen to you: A new study by online security firm McAfee found that one in 10 Americans have been cyber-threatened by an ex. Of those threats, the jilted ex followed through 60 percent of the time.

And the most disturbing part of the study? A staggering 50 percent of us share our passwords with our significant others.

WTF? That's just 50 shades of stupid.

First of all, you're allowed to have some semblance of a private life, even if you're married or a long-term relationship. Second of all, what happens if you break up? That just gives your ex all he needs to cyber stalk you-or worse, steal your personal photos and post them all over the Web.

And don't think he wouldn't do it, either: 56 percent of survey respondents copped to Facebook stalking their ex and monitoring their bank accounts and email. Scary.

The lesson? Keep your passwords private. And if you've already shared them with your guy? Stop reading now and change them.
