You’ll Never Guess What This Bridal-Inspired Collection is Made Of!

With as many admirers as critics, couture designer Jess Eaton makes exactly what the title of her collection suggests -- Roadkill Couture. Eaton has recently tapped into a new market by creating headpieces and details reminiscent of childhood fairy tales for a bridal collection that comes from, yes, animal parts.
Eaton uses "ethically sourced" dead animals as trims and fabrications for her creations. Each garment is skillfully constructed from the bones and feathers of animals that were sourced from road accidents or butchers, were killed by pest control or died of natural causes. Her designs include cat, alpaca, squirrel and rat fur, seagull and goose feathers...even a human rib cage, so we've heard!

Roadkill Couture is a celebration of exquisite design and strives to celebrate a second life that would otherwise be discarded. Some agree that using animal
remnants, which would normally be thrown away, makes Eaton's garments environmentally viable and sustainable pieces of art. However, it's no surprise that this sort of "couture" has initiated controversy. What do you think?
Eaton originally showcased her first collection at Brighton Fashion Week 2011 and has received extensive press coverage ever since (no surprise there). We have to admit, we admire her creativity and innovation despite the materials used! Obviously, it's a stretch thinking about a real bride walking down the aisle in a headpiece made of feathers and bones (it's definitely not for me), but you have to agree that these photos are stunning!
