Morrow Royal Pavilion: They Made This Out of Beer Bottles?

It looks like it's made of stone, but this may be one of the greenest buildings you've seen in your life. The Morrow Royal Pavilion in Henderson, Nevada, is made mostly out of recycled glass gathered from casinos and hotels on the Las Vegas strip. "It was more than just beer bottles; it was every type of glass that comes from the Las Vegas strip hotels," Carol Morrow, president of Realm of Design, told Yahoo! Shine in an interview. Her husband, Scott McComb, spent years developing a way to combine crushed, recycled glass with Fly Ash, a by-product from coal-fired power plants. The result is GreenStone, a concrete substitute that acts like stone, can be used in any number of ways, and is eco-friendly as well. -- By Lylah M. Alphonse, Senior Editor, Yahoo! Shine
