Anne Hathaway Wears Bondage-Inspired Boots to NYC Premiere of ‘Les Mis’

Anne Hathaway is busy promoting her role as Fantine in "Les Misérables," but she seems to have another one of her characters on her mind: Catwoman!

At the New York premiere of "Les Mis" on Monday, the 30-year-old actress hit the red carpet dressed head to toe in black. To go with her floor-length gown by Tom Ford — which featured a thigh-high slit and a dramatic cape — the newlywed had the designer make her custom gladiator stiletto-boots that went up to her thigh. The bondage boots, which were created with vegan leather, featured open toes and then straps and buckles that ran up and down her leg.

From the look of them, the boots could have doubled as a leg brace, if needed.

In "Les Mis," Hathaway plays Fantine, a dying prostitute, which is a part she shed 25 pounds to play. However, last week at a press event for the movie musical, which opens December 25, another one of her characters was on her mind — and may have inspired last night's fashion decision.

Talking to Access Hollywood, Hathaway was asked if she would consider reprising her role as Selina Kyle from "The Dark Knight Rises" in a Catwoman movie spin-off. "I would love it," she replied. "I was at a press [event] for 'The Dark Knight' and the moderator asked me, 'So what was it like to say goodbye to the character?' And I burst into tears, because I miss her. It just makes me cry. I miss her. I love Selina so much and I love her presence in my life and getting to… I'm crying again." After pausing to compose herself, Hathaway added, "So assuming there was enough Kleenex in the world, I would love to do a spin-off."

Hathaway has previously said she would consider reprising the role — if director Christopher Nolan was involved with the project. "If he's interested, I'm very interested," she told Digital Spy in July. "I think it would be lovely to see more of her, but only if it's with the right people. She lives in this Gotham City, and so it would have to be established by the people who have made this Gotham City. For me, at least."

However, Nolan has said that he's "done" with the Batman franchise, so Hathaway may never get the chance. Well, at least she'll still be able to dress like Catwoman whenever she wants.
