3 clever ways to never pay for wrapping paper

After spending money on holiday gifts, the last thing you want is to spend even more on wrapping paper. Here are a few creative ways to wrap gifts using material that’s likely already around your house.

Magazines
Old magazines - especially any holiday themed issues – make great gift wrap. Both the covers and pages inside can help create a unique, festive, and colorful look.

Compared to fancy store bought paper that can cost up to $5 a roll, this alternative is free – and eco-friendly!

Mason Jars
Instead of gift bags, which, too can cost up to $5 in some stores, consider gifting small items like soaps and bath fizzies in mason jars. Showcase the gifts by adding a cheerful ribbon. Since the jars are reusable, they’re like two gifts in one. Even if you opt to purchase mason jars, you can still save, since a dozen cost less than $10.

Tissue Paper
Finally, an easy way to save money on wrapping is to simply ask for a free gift box and extra tissue paper at the checkout – and get creative. For a classy polished look, all it takes is a little embellishing. Dot the boxes or paper with some markers or paint you have in the house, or tie a bright ribbon around it.
