Ok lets discuss why a man really wants to be taller(They actually said it at the end of this video). I'm apart of that shorter crowd and as much as women shoot off about how men perceive them in terms of the way they look. Women are more judgemental when it comes down to a man's height. For years I saw the same damn then over and over again on dating sites(Looking for a tall guy). Have friends that are short and can't find a woman to save themselves because of this issue. See the guy was 5'6 and now is going to be 6'2 and now his dating life is better. Really shows how shallow women that are into tall guys can be. Trust me 90% of the guys out there aren't looking for a model types. Its sad that the one guy is enduring all that pain just so he can get women to notice him. I hate the way the world perceive's both sexes. Take a movie like the X-Men. I know this might be a small(no pun intended) subject and a minor thing. But Hugh Jackman is 6'2 and a half and he played Wolverine who stands 5'4 in the comic books. So women when you start shooting off about how men supposedly look down on bigger and shorter women, just remember it goes both ways.

All ready said that below “And mostly for the idiot brain of a PUZZAI! Duh!” you’re just rattling detail! By The Way MONEY! Comes first with the Puzzai! Then the height!

It's sad in a way but the majority of people are shallow. They judge by appearance without ever taking the time to know someone. Contrary to you, I believe that both sexes share that sad trait equally. We live in a visually oriented society so people judge by what they see. The only way a short guy can even the odds without this crazy torture and pain is to muscle up. The bonus is that people who have short limbs have an advantage when it comes to putting on muscle because of leverage.@Do you know me: write in English for C#$%$ sake !

This article should be titled "Getting incredibly dumber through surgery"
I'm 5' 7" and most people call me big guy because I stand tall and dont give a sheit what any thinks about my height! I understand taller women would likely seek a man at least their own height, but the shallow ones aren't my type so I certainly wouldnt go under the knife to impress them.

Right? and there wont be any side affects by breaking your legs and inserting an extendable rod...What happens if you get diabetes or cancer or as you get older due to old age...your body won't be as healthy and immune to things like you were in your twenties and thirties. I'm 5'7 and I'm happy with my height...would I like to be taller? Sure. But if I have kids 1 day, I will tell them, eat regularly, sleep, do stretching exercises, bike ride, play sports...trust me it helps. Michael Jordan is 6 ft 6 and that's what he did by getting taller, everyone in his family (brothers and father) were under 5 ft 10. Besides if these guys want to get extra height, go on eBay get those 3 inch shoe insoles and place them in your shoes...costs $10, oppose to breaking your legs and doing this surgery for $50,000-85,000.

I find it strange that they don't discuss possible side effects when they get older. By changing the structure of the body in only one very precise point, I believe it changes the whole equilibrium on the other structures as well starting with the spine. They don't talk about supporting structures such as joints and muscle. Somewhere down the line they might regret the operation. Still, I feel for the guy who's only 4'11". That's really really small for a normal adult man.

Blackhawks at 5 7 you are tall enough, at 5ft or 5 2 you would maybe not like it.

I have to agree Carole 5' 7" is not that short.

thnx to the mediia nobody feels comfy and happy with their self, woman starving themselves to look like the photo shop models and men go threw this surgery because actors like tom cruise get a camera trick shot when filming , go stand next to him in real life and tell me how you feel about your height after.

As a person who is also on the short side myself, I can totally understand how they feel. I am a girl, so height is not as important to me as it is to these two men. Having a surgery done to gain height is like women having plastic surgeries done on their faces. Sure, they seem like a bunch of insecure idiots to some, but if that gives them confidence and if they are willing to pay the huge amount of money and face the possible side effects and consequences, then I say let them be. If they feel happy after the surgery, who are we to say they made a bad choice? As much as we don't want to admit it, people do judge you by your appearance in our society to a certain level. First impressions, for example, is entirely based on your appearance.

I'm go back and forth on this one. I think it would be great if people loved how they looked without changing themselves and if others could be less shallow... but then everyone's accepted braces as something completely accepted and normal... and that is a lot of money, time and is painful as well.

I like the 'justification' comments...'if you have crooked teeth you'll get them fixed..." or something to that effect. We should be thanking the likes of Phyllis Diller, Joan Rivers etc with their preachings..."...go do something about it, for heaven's sake" .

My brother is just 5' 5" and never had any trouble getting girlfriends. We use to joke about all the good looking girls he brought home. He married a woman 5" taller. No one ever looked down at him. They won't dare.

I can see how a very short person would want this, that said this other guy who wants to be 6 ft 2 is only fooling himself. For one thing his unit hasnt changes size and i am sure all those women who go out with big tall guys aren't just going out with them for there height! Boy will they be disappointed!!!!!

It's easy for us to judge people who have aesthetic surgeries done to them, but if you put yourself in the shoes of a 5'2" guy, you'll probably have the same thing done. Let's face it, you won't be treated seriously by most people. You'll barely get any women because women can be as judgemental as men when it comes to outward appearance (especially height). We're social animals and it hurts to not be taken seriously. We evolved to find certain traits desirable for a desirable offspring (good looks, height, body composition, etc.) so no matter how shallow it is for men and women to judge someone by their looks, it will inevitably happen.
