1. PEPLUMS
Since its revival last season, this flared cut became even more popular, turning up in hyper-feminine ruffles at Peter Som, streamlined wool at Vera Wang, and in a new take at DKNY, as their kicky 'peplum' skirt, a mainstay in the collection.
2. RED ALERT
Whether noted as oxblood, claret, crimson, or burgundy, this fiery hue was in high demand, seen on top looks at DKNY, Peter Som, Helmut Lang, Proenza Schouler, Tommy Hilfiger, Rodarte, Derek Lam and Alexander Wang, to name a few.

3. BROCADE, JACQUARD AND PAISLEY MOTIFS
Opulent fabrics and regal patterns played a key role in a number of major shows, including Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler, Rodarte, Rag Bone, and Jason Wu. Interior decor textiles also served as inspiration points, from the Moroccan carpet-derived print at Altuzarra and a Victoriana wallpaper motif at Sophie Theallet.
4. HITCHCOCK HEROINE
This seasons time-warp trend landed in the 1930s and early 1940s, with ladylike silhouettes inspired by American cinema turning heads at Tory Burch, Cynthia Rowley, Peter Som, Cushnie et Ochs, Rodarte and Preen. Meanwhile '30s silver screen star Marlene Dietrich got name-checked as the main muse for both Jason Wu and Donna Karan.

5. CABLE GIRLS
Designers sent out statement-making knits, especially in exaggerated cable weaves at Rodarte, Derek Lam, Michael Kors, and Altuzarra, who showed a must-have midi-skirt with coin-embellished yarns.
6. KNEE-HIGH BOOTS
Hot-to-trot boots stormed the runways in a series of first-class footwear - the champion silhouette being cut to the knee, with a major high heel. As seen at Proenza Schouler, Calvin Klein, Hervé Léger, Ports, Alexander Wang, and Altuzarra.

7. WINTER WHITE
This unexpected neutral spoke volumes to seasonless dressing - why wait to wear white? As seen at Peter Som, Proenza Schouler, Reed Krakoff, Altuzarra, Cynthia Rowley, 3.1 Phillip Lim, and Ports.
8. PATCHWORK
Winning looks were pieced together in the latest play on pattern; abstract styles at Marc Jacobs, enticing furs at BCBG Max Azria, and a must-have blazer at Narciso Rodriguez.

9. ASIA MAJOR
From Chinoiserie at Jason Wu to geishas at Zac Posen to samurai warriors at Proenza Schouler, the Far East offered designers an eclectic array of inspiration points.
10. OVERSIZED
Designers went decidedly up-scale when amplifying proportions on daytime separates, staple outerwear, and even accessories - in the most adventurous examples of outsized hats at Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors. Also seen at Cynthia Rowley, Jeremy Laing, Proenza Schouler, Thom Browne, Alexander Wang, 3.1 Phillip Lim, and Ports.
