Chanel
I love summer accessories because they're not serious. Winter is about practical (yet always stylish) hats, boots and scarves while summer is always a tropical smorgasbord of colour, texture and quirky styles. This season, that buffet is richer than ever. Here are my favourite pieces to dress up your summer look.
Jil Sander
Marc Jacobs
Prada
No one did summer extras better than Miuccia Prada. I adored her Willy Wonka-esque sunglasses, hotly hued faux fur stoles and platform creepers. It was a crazy look that instantly screams "fun!"
Chanel
Karl Lagerfeld is another accessory mastermind. His pieces are always classic yet subversive, and he isn't afraid to pile them on one outfit. Here, it's the long fringe earrings that caught my eye.
Lanvin
This stunning metal neck-piece opened the Lanvin show and then quickly found its way on A-list necks around the globe. Blake Lively and Emma Stone wore it well, among others. It's a stunning way to anchor the season's prettiest and most dramatic flowing dress.
Christopher Kane
Brit Kane touched off a huge frenzy for neons with his inventive lace collection. It was easy to overlook his stunning strappy neon shoes. Imagine how great they'd look with a lean black tank dress.
Jil Sander
Raf Simons' collection was about volume, colour and simplicity-the perfect minimal yet high-impact canvas a pair of standout neon sunglasses. His specs, alongside Prada's, made summer 2011 the season of the must-have shades.
Marc Jacobs
A big floppy flower was a surprising feature on Marc Jacobs runway but I loved how he used them in hair, at the neck and around the waist to give a sexy relaxed attitude. The key is not to overdo it-one piece only looks best off the runway. I'll be attaching mine to the ankle of my sandals.
Alexander Wang
The peep-toe boot is still one look that I can't get my head around. Why would anyone step out in a hot weather in a lace-up boot? And you'd freeze if you wore them in the winter. Nevertheless, Wang cut them best in crisp off-white for summer.
Burberry Prorsum
You can always count on Christopher Bailey to design some killer accessories to pair with his trenches and shifts. This season, I loved the hit of neon in waist cinchers and clutches. I'll be adding both to my year 'round accessory closet.
Brioni
Editors were coveting Brioni's stunning necklace the second it came down the runway. Whether your style is edgy, fashion-forward, jet set, or classic, this piece is a must.
Céline
Anything that Phoebe Philo designs immediately soars to the top of the waiting list. Her handbags are no exception. This season, her hand-held envelope bag-and roomy totes-were a major score.
