He'd buy me some crappy thing I didn't want, ignoring me telling him what I DID want, pick a fight with me over something lame, and I'd end up in tears. Eventually I gave up on having expectations of ever having a decent day for me. Luckily, I got rid of him, and my current partner knows how much I hated those days for so long and why.
