You think this is the only burger that doesn't match up with the ad? At least the whopper is a big burger. Have you seen McDonald's ads and compared the burgers? In the ad the burger comes half way up the cup beside it. In reality it's only about an inch thick.

      ...and this surprises you?

I'm sure that the one in the advertisement picture is not real.

You're right, usually they are mostly PLASTIC. They are NEVER actually edible.

It's time our governments did some real work for a change, and legislated all aspects of advertising. Advertisers should be forced to show these things as they really are. and be subject to huge fines if advert's exaggerate the appearance, size or quality of a product!
      • fedup 3 months ago
Sorry I you can not figure out that an Ad product is not the same as Real Product then the education system has failed you. It is not the government job to watch dog everything, us some common scents. Our Government tells people every day that Smoking KILLS and everyday someone lights up. So it is their own fault when they drop over dead and it's your own fault if you think burger shots are real!

@GRAHAM YEAH I WAS THINKING THINGS LIKE EDUCATION, COMMON SENSE, AND THE INTERNET SORTA MADE EVERYTHING YOU SAID IRRELEVANT

It's exactly like in the ad posted...... They show you what could be a great tasting burger and then they serve you crap...... That's why I don't eat at fast food joints.

hey papa s you got that right,I've been buying my own ground beef lately. An hey if I'm in a hurry I'll get a fast food burger, they have to make it look good in the ad or nobody would eat them
    • Tony  •  Toronto, Ontario  •  3 months ago
I remember seeing a document a few years ago that the "stuffs" they use for for advertising, especially foods, are not real. I don't think you want to eat it if they give you one looking like the one from the ad.
    • GraphicsGuy  •  Toronto, Ontario  •  4 months ago
There have been numerous reports done this in the past. It's not just the fast food companies, it's *anyone* who commissions food photography. Food photographers know numerous tricks to get products to look their best and most of the food displayed in ads is not even eatible!

For burgers, the buns are untoasted (cold) which is why they appear uncrushed. The paties are "flash flamed" on the outside only (still raw inside) so they don't go flat, etc.

Ever see a nice looking image of a turkey being carved? Same thing, only the ouside is flashed-cooked, the inside is raw. If they show a knife carving a section away, they use a flame torch to cook the exposed meat.

      Etc, etc, etc...

I seem to recall seeing the thing about the turkey on tv

I've also heard they use glue instead of milk in cereal for commercials, so that the cereal doesn't get soggy and such. And they have specific lights and lighting they use for foods so they look there (their?) best and don't melt or "sweat".

What do you expect. There are no adequate laws against lying in advertising and the laws that do exist are not enforced because smart lawyers know all the loop holes. Our government is failing us by not protecting consumers with simple easy to enforce laws when it comes to advertising.

why eat crap in the second place.
    • Greg  •  Calgary, Alberta  •  3 months ago
advertising is all about making things look appealing, they have food "artists " to make the food lokk as appetizing as possible. They will have the "perfect "bun with the most sesame seeds, the perfect tomato and onion slice, the meat in the picture is probably not even cooked fully.
Accept the fact that you will never get exactly what is pictured, if you do, you are only fooling yourself.

Surely, no one can possibly be surprised by this; creating fake food for advertising is an art form. The real thing never looks as good as the stuff in the pictures.

I don't like them Saggy old buns, madame! False advertising is all around you! This is like a
pretty girl you see in an ad who is in reality, is only wearing a whole crap load of makeup. Well, sort of I guess.... I first saw this article last year on the online version of this really cool magazine called "mental floss"! pretty sick hey?, especially how
long, ifever, it takes this crap to decompose. Ewwwwww! Think i'll spare my poor body from this particular kind of harm thank you very much!
